Privacy Policy

VertexScore helps high school students and their families understand and improve college readiness. Because our users include students — some under 18 — we take privacy seriously and keep this policy in plain language. In short: we collect only what we need to run the service, we never sell student data, and we never share it for advertising.

Information we collect

• Account information — first name, email address, account type (student or parent), and, for students, grade level and date of birth (used only to verify age, as required by law).
• Assessment responses — the answers a student provides in the readiness assessment, which we use to prepare their scores and advisory report.
• Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store card numbers.
• Usage information — basic product analytics (pages visited, features used) that help us improve the service. We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use information

• To calculate readiness scores and prepare the advisory report.
• To operate accounts, subscriptions, and parent–student links.
• To send service emails (account, billing, and parent-approval messages).
• To understand how the product is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell personal information, use it for third-party advertising, or build advertising profiles of students. Ever.

Children under 13 (COPPA)

If a student indicates they are under 13, we require verifiable consent from a parent or guardian before the account becomes active. We collect the parent's email address solely to request that consent. Parents and guardians may review their child's information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely at any time by emailing support@vertexscore.com.

Who we share information with

Only the service providers that make VertexScore work, and only the minimum they need:

• Clerk — secure sign-in and account management.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Vercel — hosting.
• Anthropic — a service provider that assists in preparing advisory reports. Student names, emails, and school names are removed before any report content is prepared.
• PostHog — product analytics.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy continues to apply to previously collected data).

Your choices and rights

• Access and update — you can edit your profile in Settings.
• Delete — you can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings, or by emailing us.
• Parents — you may review or request deletion of your linked student's information at any time.

Data retention and security

We keep your information only while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Deleted accounts are removed from our systems. Data is encrypted in transit, and access is limited to what operating the service requires.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes affecting students' data, notify account holders by email.
